So Many to Thank!
Welcome, and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2010!!! I hope you all had wonderful holidays spent with family and friends!

As we begin the New Year, I first want to thank our Past President, Ray Depa, of Crawford & Company, for the incredible job he did this past year as our President! Ray has devoted himself nobly to our association and his steadfast leadership of our Board of Directors over the past year! I am thankful that Ray will be remaining on our Board of Directors for 2010 as Immediate Past President and Speaker Co-Chair! I also want to congratulate Ray on his recent unanimous election as Vice President on the Board of the 2010 Claims Conference of Northern California (CCNC)! When you have the opportunity, please let Ray know how much his leadership has meant to our Association!

Secondly, I would also like to thank our 2009 Treasurer, Kim Tamayo, of Restoration Management Company! Not only did Kim do an awesome job as our Treasurer, but she took on the planning and details for each of our Association events this past year – not just as our Treasurer, but also working on each event committee to insure a successful event to be enjoyed by all! Thank you, Kim!

I am extremely pleased to be working with such a dedicated group of individuals, as your Elected Executive Officers for 2010: Vice President – Stevan Muir, of CSAA, is returning in his position; Secretary – Jodi DeVillier, of Coast Construction, and Treasurer – Ken Ridings, of Engineering Design & Testing, Inc. I look forward to working with you all to make 2010 an outstanding year for EBCA!

I would like to introduce your new Board of Directors for 2010. I am pleased to announce the following members who will be returning to our Board this year: Joe Baughman, Wingard Construction; Brian Davis, Restoration Clean-Up Company; Tom Mazza, Ideal Restoration; Kelly Sullivan, Crawford & Company - EBCA Speaker Committee Co-Chair; Kristen Mayo, TempHome Services (CCNC-EBCA Voting Rep); Lisa Winn, (CCNC-EBCA Voting Rep); Bryan Harrison, Association News Network; and Ray Depa, Past President & Speaker Committee Co-Chair.

New to our Board of Directors this year are: Frances Hewitt, Allegra Print & Imaging; Kathleen Taylor, Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling; and Z Safdari, Red Door Restoration. Though Frances has chaired our Golf Tournament, served on many an event committee, and sat in on many a Board meeting, I am so happy that she has agreed to sit on the Board of Directors this year in an official capacity! To Kathleen, and Z – let me be the first to welcome you both to the Board! I look forward to working with each of you throughout the year!

We ended 2009 with a wonderful Holiday Dinner-Dance on December 4th! If you haven’t already done so, go to our website and view the many photos! It was a great event and we had donations galore for the Bay Area Crisis Nursery in Concord in toys, checks and cash! Sister Ann was overwhelmed at the out-pouring of generosity! There were even some who spoke with Sister Ann, having decided that they want to get involved with the Bay Area Crisis Nursery in a volunteer capacity! What an awesome membership we have! Be Proud! Be very, very proud! Thank yous to Michael Ybarra of Paul Davis Restoration – our DJ for the evening; and to Bryan & Cass Harrison for the wonderful photos that each person took home with them that evening! And, a special thank you to the sponsors of our Holiday Dinner-Dance: Kellco-Macs Environmental, Association News Network and Belfor USA!

Reminder: Your EBCA Membership runs a calendar year! So, it’s time to renew your membership now! Not only do you save money on the luncheons, if you’re an adjuster with a paid membership – your lunches are FREE for the year!!! What a deal! We are going to have a table at check-in for our January meeting just to renew your membership! Or, better yet, go online to our website at www.eastbayadjusters.org and you can not only pay for your 2010 Membership, but also pay for your lunch!

Traditionally, our January meeting is our Annual Legal Update and Case Law Review. I am very pleased to announce we have Linda Meyers with Low, Ball & Lynch who will be our speaker for this meeting! This meeting is always a huge turnout! Make your reservations early! Walk-ins at the door may be turned away due to the large turnout and their lack of a reservation!
