EBCA Camaraderie Makes for Strong Support Network
February message from

Was Paul Kayfetz the bomb last month or what?! Many thanks to him as well as Ray Depa for helping us fill in a top rate speaker, albeit at the last minute. Paul wowed us with video simulation of accident reenactments and his presentation left many of us speechless and wanting more. My favorite video was the first one with the skateboarder coming down the hill…Some amazing stuff!!!
This month, we are lucky to have Mary Kay Glaspy, an attorney out of Walnut Creek, speaking on Construction Defect claims issues. Be sure to email your rsvp’s for our next luncheon to Justine Bone (jbone@datasafe.com) early so we can let Big Tony at Zio Fraedo’s know how many of us will be there.
January has started off with some crazy weather; always beckoning to those of us in the business to respond to the needs of insureds and claimants and despite this, I was impressed by the show of support from our Member’s at the first meeting of the year. THANK YOU!
The storms continue to hit us hard. I spent this past weekend in Lake Tahoe and the snow was a mad, continuous flurry. I awoke on Sunday morning to find the truck covered in snow and the roads hidden below six solid inches of soft powder! But alas, the roads were cleared and getting snowed in just wasn’t in the plans for me. Of course, claim responsibilities are never-ending and in this new year, I am trying to keep a positive attitude in spite of those days where the rain is pouring hard outside and the last thing I want to do is go out and adjust a loss. How do you cope with these days? Feel free to share some coping strategies with me any time! I really have found that the camaraderie in the EBCA has served as almost a sort of respite to me at times from the stress of the daily aspects of my job. I hope the EBCA can do the same for you-we’ve got such a quality group of folks supporting one another.
We had a great meeting about the golf tournament just last week and with the always sharp Kim Tamayo and the zesty Frances Hewitt at the helm of the Golf Committee, this event is sure to be off the charts! If you can help in any way, please let Kim or Frances know.
Finally, congratulations to Damon Conn, Tim Kirk and Randy Agnetti for getting the word of the day from the January meeting! The word was ‘ballyrag.’ Ballyrag means to ‘bully or intimidate.’ Stay tuned for February’s word at our next meeting and remember, the first three people to get the meaning right win a $5.00 Starbucks card.
Looking forward to seeing you in February!
