Great Year in Store for East Bay Claims
Inaugural message from
2008 EBCA President
Kelly Sullivan
HAPPY 2008!
I am excited about what’s in store for the EBCA this year! I hope you can join us for our first kick-off meeting on January 9th.
Sam Phillips had been planning to give his presentation designed to keep us abreast of all the latest construction defect litigation. Unfortunately, he's been called away to tend to his ailing father. We wish him and his family all the best, and hope we can reschedule with him in the near future.
I was lucky enough to bowl with Sam a few years ago in the Central Coast Tournament and in addition to being spontaneous and a lot of fun, he is a sharp attorney.
In Sam's place, we're very fortunate to have Mr. Paul Kayfetz, of Paul Kayfetz, Inc., who has graciously agreed to step in and provide us with his dynamic video presentation on his firm's computer-based accident simulations. We were hoping to have Mr. Kayfetz address our group at some point in the year, so this works out well for all.
What can I tell you about this year? We’re gonna learn and we’re gonna have fun too! We have a great group on the Board and a good mix of officers. Zio Fraedos has been so good to us that we decided to keep meeting there all year with the exception of May, when we’ll be meeting at a yet-to-be-determined Mexican Restaurant in belated celebration of Cinco De Mayo.
We’re also making plans for an Association bus tour to the Wine Country for a Saturday of wine tasting, and we’ve got a new venue for our golf tournament too; we’ll be playing this year at Poppy Ridge in Livermore.
And how about a little friendly competition??? We are hoping to host some competitive fundraising with our partners in the other Associations, so if you’ve got a favorite charity, be sure to let me know! Central Coast Claims Association bowlers, look out!
Our speakers will continue to be of the best quality this year and you are sure to be entertained, given that Ray Depa, Michelle Kauffman and Bryan Harrison are heading up our Speakers committee.
I hope the holidays were good to you and that we can all start the new year together with the opportunity to absorb some new information, make some new friends and catch up with the old ones.
Here’s to a happy and prosperous 2008!
Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting!
Warm Regards,
Kelly Sullivan
